Got my new Charger ready to shoot. Mounted a 2.5x8 Weaver in Matte. Added a rear sling stud on the grip and got one of my JSI slings installed. Anyone else got one yet?

I don't have one yet but i held one last night at the local shop and looked it over real good they are nice little guns no were near as muzzle heavy as thought it was going to be should be a fun time with a 50 rounder in it squirrels be ware!! superdown

Southern Utah they are a hoot to shoot. I got mine two weeks ago and mounted a Bushnell Trophy red dot on mine. I ran about 400/450 rounds through mine of three different types of ammo. CCI Standard Velocity, Federal Standard Velocity, and Wally World Federal bulk and the Charger ran 100% NO PROBLEMS what so ever. This past week I received the Bushnell Elite 3200 2-6X32 I order, I have mounted it but I did not get out to shoot it yet with this set up. If all goes right I may try this Sunday, I will try more types of .22 ammo at 50 yards this time. I also like that idea of yours, putting the sling stud in the pistol grip. How is your trigger?? Mine is not to hateful, a tad heavy but way better then our 10/22. I have some parts left over fro the mods I did to my 10/22 so I will install them when I get a chance

The club I belong to has a .22 rimfire range only, lots of reaction targets to shoot at, as well as a place to shoot paper targets. The only draw back is it is only 25 yards, but lots of fun.

This target was shot at 25 yards, rapid fire with mixed lots of ammo it the mag at one time

Just had one follow me home from Gun Show.Hope it shoots as good as it looks
From the earlier post can you interchange parts off a regular 10/22.
They had 2 at show both were $300.00 would not go down a dime
each one said the distributor only gave them one.

I have a child getting married in a couple of months. When I recover financially from that I expect one will follow me home as well. I have done a bunch of tune ups on 10/22s so I know how to get a good trigger etc. on one. Looks like fun to me.

NOLA, I do not know if all part are the same but I did do a complete strip of the action and it sure looked the same. In fact last night I did replace a few parts that I had from a 10/22 build and they did fit and worked without any problems. I had a chance to shoot it again today with the new scope I mounted, with the mods I did, and three more different types of ammo. I had no problems of any kind; the Charger has been 100% for me since I got it. What I did was install a Volquartsen trigger w/stop and I had one bolt stop left that I made out of delrin. I did nothing to the trigger as in the way of stoning or the auto bolt release mod, next time. But while it was apart I did notice that the trigger parts were polished from the factory, HMMMMMMM, not like the Ruger I know. So now I have about a 4-5 pound trigger that brakes clean with under 3/32" trigger travel and the bolt will not have that metal to metal slap.

I've just got one this afternoon and paid $309 for it. I saw one a week ago in Cabelas for $399 and today, $309 looked better priced. I wish I would have read this thread before I did but what the heck, it is water under the bridge. I will probably begin testing this gun next weekend but I can't wait to hear from you guys on accuracy and velocity tests with different ammo. Anyone had been chrono-ing their shots?

Camba I enjoy shooting mine. I do not have a crono but have shot like 6 or 7 different type of ammo with problem with only one, Wolf Match Target which is a mild load. On the bright side it is very accurate. How is your Trigger?? mine came through pretty good. Today at the range another shooter believes its the same trigger group that was put in the 10/22 T model, but I am not sure.

I have not been able to test this gun yet. I will this weekend. I placed a Bushnell 2 x 7 -32 pistol scope and it looks like a million. I am already thinking how to carry this gun when hunting. Do you have any idea how? I was thinking to carry it in a back pack type holster but I am not sure. Any other suggestions on that? The trigger seems like a 3 lb type and very crisp.

I am getting the itch for one of these, but in all the post I have seen there has never been groups sizes mentioned. Would like to see some if anyone has some. I do not expect to be as accurate as my Contender or Kimber, but would hope for an accurate gun.

All the parts between the 10/22 and Charger are the same...the difference only being in the receiver (finish, and pistol labeled). Everything will interchange.

Over on RFC there are several people posting groups and results...not all of 'em using quality ammo, but apparently in stock form it's capable of sub 1" groups with decent ammo. High velcity ammo will go supersonic in a 4" barrel, so you aren't losing all that much energy out of the Charger...with a decent crown and setting the factory barrel back to rechamber you should be getting pretty sweet groups.

There are also several of 'em already there with custom finishes, custom barrels (turned down GM's and such), and custom stocks. The majority posted already have new buffers, hammer/trigger parts, etc.

Great little rig so it seems.
I'd like to get one, but I'm not in a big enough hurry to deal with special ordering or traveling just yet. My local shop just looks at me and says "Ruger what? Never heard of it..."

If you can get it for $320 or less you did pretty well considering they're pretty hot right now (recent release). I see many claim to be picking 'em up for about $280, but it seems the majority are paying $300... I would be willing to pay $340 OTD for one and never look back. Higher than that and I'll wait.

Camba did you have a chance to shoot your Charger?? As for a holster I cannot help you with that. I have mine just to plink since we cannot hunt with a semi-auto pistol (or rifle) in Pa. But I like the idea that Southern Utah had, putting a sling stud in the pistol grip using a sling. This would help to steady the pistol hunting or plinking.

Bullseye last week I shot a few groups at 50 yards with my Charger with ok results. I have a Bushnell 3200 3-6X32 mounted on it, and this is the first pistol I have with a scope on it. It is taking me a little time to get used to the long eye relief. I did notice that POI changed from using the bi-pod to using the bags, better with the bags. This pistol can shoot much better then me, but that means more range time to get better. The fliers are all me.

I tested the 22 Charger with a red dot sight and a Bushnell 2x7x32 pistol scope. With the red dot sight I was not able to get any better than 2" at 25 yds. Then I tried at 50 yds and I've got groups in the 3 to 4" groups but I have to admit, my eyes where not helping me and the red dot kept changing around that I could not make out the solid red dot but red string. Today, I used the scope again in an indoor range and I made a ragged hole a couple of times at 50 feet distance with CCI mini-mags HP. What I like the most out of this gun is that it is so compact! I also purchased a 50 round clip and tested the gun pretending it was an MP-5. To my surprise, it fired them all without a hick up. I am wondering if it should be better to use a rifle scope instead of a pistol scope. Perhaps that's another way of using it.

Have any of you used your charger for small game yet ??

Do you have a favorite ammo for you Charger ??

Took mine out to the range yesterday and had a 1/2'' 10 shot group at 25 yards .

This group was shot in front of the range master at our local Club / range here in Cache valley Utah .
I used the bi-pod and a sand bag under the butt/handle . We could not believe the groups this stock gun would do .
I used CCI HP mini mags . I took 5 shots and we went and looked at the target then when back and shot 5 more . The last five went right in the center barley cutting anymore paper . Very impressive little gun . My first ruger 10-22 i have ever owned .

I recently also got a Ruger Charger and they are alot of fun to shoot. the only complaint I have is the trigger. But as someone else on here mentioned there are alot of after market items for the 10/22 that will work on the Charger. I bought a Heavy S/S barrel and Trigger Group off of a Ruger 10/22T off of a guy at work. I had the barrel cut off at 12" and dropped the trigger group right in. It shot pretty well to begin with but I think it shoots alot better now with the much improved Trigger group and Barrel.

Unless it's a really cheap variant of it, The trigger group is plastic. I took the extended mag release and swapped it out on the 10/22T trigger group that I replaced it with. It is just a real fun gun to shoot with, be it targets or whatever.

I just replaces my plastic trigger group with a used metal one and will replace parts as $$$ comes available , to lower the trigger pull . I honed a lot of the inside parts( which took forever ) before installing it in my Charger . I also got a new scope a 3x9 and need to sight it i now .

Yes, it's the S/S trigger group as well as the S/S Barrel from the Ruger 10/22 T. I thought it madee a nice contrast to the matte blue receiver and the grey laminate stock.

Bet the ammo MFG's are really glad to see this ammo burner added to the Ruger line. Has spray and pray written all over it (even though I have no doubt it shoots very well). Glad those who have one are having some fun with them though. I think that is the appeal Ruger was looking for by adding it to their line.

Good example of how tastes differ though. I own quite a few older Ruger's and love them, but this one has zero appeal to me. But then this one gets extra strikes against it because I am about as far from a fan of 10/22's as you can get.

If I wanted a 22 rimfire specialty pistol (beyond my Contenders), I'd opt for another just as ugly ducking, the Annie Exemplar long before I'd spring for one of these. Moot point though as I haven't shot 22RF's since the 17RF's came out.

I've seen some others that people have been semi-customizing and they are really nice, i.e dying that stocks, didn't know you could even do that. The great thing about the Charger is that theres so many after market items for the 10/22 that can be used on the Charger that the skys the limit, and your imagination, have fun!!

Seems people either love or hate them . I like them the first time i saw one , as soon as i got the $$$$$$$$$ i go it.

Just got out to the range last week with mine. I put the 3-9x PFI Rapid Reticle on mine, and chrono'd and load tested 2 loads--the Thunderbolts, and CCI Stinger. I was getting 1000-something (can't remember, i'm at wrok now) out of the Thunderbolts but they were keyholing BAADD @ 100 yds. Spooked me a little but then the Stingers gave me 1440 avg. with only 60 fps ES and 1.5-2" groups. I thought that was nice. Switched to the 200 yd. tgt. after running the ballistics and nailed the 200 yd. gong on the 1st shot. Was getting 4-6" gps. with it at that range...all this with a 5-10 mph 6 o'clock wind. Not bad i thought.

Went hunting a day later with it, and nailed a jack at 100 yds. on the 1st shot, and a prairie dog at 135 on the 1st shot--yeehaaa! I'm lovin' it.

Installed a sling swivel on the bottom of the pistol grip also.

Am gonna try the Velocitor this week, and see what i can do with it, since i've heard some very good things about it.

I'm hoping for some 150-200 yd. jackrabbits and crows--we'll see.
