Rem. 514
« on: July 02, 2003, 10:00:04 AM »
:Good day to ya all.
Am looking at buying a Rem. 514, single shot 22.  Does anyone have experience with tuning one -- trigger, bedding, etc.  I need instructions for a hammer, so have to figure costs of having the work done.  Have recently saw some old performance wirte ups in the Rifleman.  What experience have you all had with their barrels?
Any help appreciated, but checks held until it clears the bank ( and they pay you money, thats just as good as cash!!!).

Thanks and good gunnin'

I have Rem 514, the first 22 I ever  had. I saved my money and bought it in 1946. The 514 shoots good but why would you want one? If you put a scope on it you will have to take it to a gunsmith and get it drilled. They were not made for a scope to mount. I keep it for a keepsake and don't shoot it anymore. If I remember right I paid 14.00 for it. There is a lot of better 22" out there. Carl L.
