Where can I find a sling and the mount hardware. Is anyone using the slings are they better than the big holsters.I would think it would be faster to get to your gun with the use of the sling .Any input would be useful.     thanks

Uncle Mikes makes a kit that replaces the grip screw and forend screw with sling studs.  I would contact Ed of Ed's Contenders or one of the larger mail order reloading supply shops.

Go to www.jsi-guns-hunting-firearms.com for the "just sling it" quick adjust sling and the Uncle Mikes mounting hardware. I got one a few months back and have been very pleased with it. I allows easy carry of your Contender and quickly releases to allow you to use the sling as additional support. I find it easier to carry my 14" barrel Contender with this sling than it is to carry a 6" Anaconda in a bandoleir (sp) holster.

Be careful of those barrel band sling holders if you are using a heavy kicker, I got my sling wrapped around a sand bag and pulled the band open enough that it no longer held on to the barrel. I know ,I know, my fault, but if it happens to you ! you were warned! I now use a stud thru the fore arm on most of my guns. I prefer a holster for the real cannons like the 358jdj or 45-70. the 6.5 jdj ,7tc/u and a couple others get a bipod that the sling attaches to!   jh

i use the sling mostly, but have the holster if i take a notion to use it also. i go to a local smith and have him install a wood screw type stud in the walnut grip, then cut a machine screw type stud to fit thru the forearm and into the dovetail. it just replaces the front forearm screw. i get the smith to do it because he has the right tools and does not split the wood. it's cheap, and works great. i prefer the 1" nylon super sling. adjustable, and comes in camo, black,or brown.

About 10 years ago  switched to slings exclusively...got rid of all holsters.  About a year ago I got "just sling it"...now I'm happiest kid on the block.  Coltfan gave the address above.  GOOD SHOOTIN',  Walt  :-D  :-D  :-D  :-
