Help with scope mount ?

I know I am new and I am sure some of my questions get asked a lot . But I swear I am trying the search feature as hard as I can !!

I chickened out on my .460 barrel and canceled my order. I ordered a .308 instead for deer/ hogs(and it's my first pistol above a .357mag).

I do not want to spend so much on the TSOB mounts so I am trying to figure out a good alternative for the .308 .

Are Weaver Grand Slam 3 ring set ups, Warne 3 ring, Eabco's 3 ring , Luepold 2 ring DD's,TC 3 rings, etc. fine for a .308's recoil ? Any preference's along those lines ?

I picked up a Bushnell 3200 FF 2x6 off Natchez..........it came in today.....recticle "is" thick but seems like it will be fine for what I am doing !!

Weaver Grand Slam rings are pretty crude, they take a lot of lapping to get them true, I wouldn't recommend anyone use them unlapped, they're typical chinese cast metal craftsmanship, very rough, a real disappointment for the Weaver Grand Slam name.

 I can only speak of two hard kickers i have ,one is a 375 JDJ and the other is a 445 super mag. they both kick , I tell people they kill on one end and wound on the other end they don't care which end is which.
 I have the Leupold base with rings on both and have not had any trouble.

When i install them I clean them very well , including the scree holes and make sure that the fit on the barrel is good. then i use loctite on the screws. I also use a tourqe wrench to make sure that I have it tight but not to tight.  I just got one of the screw driver types from midway. I dont know how it will work yet but it looks like it will be easier than the beam type.

also I put some oil  the base where it touches the barrel so it wont rust just a light film. if you are hunting in bad weather you dont want your barrel to rust since most people do not remove the base to clean under them.

Thanks !! I liked the way that Stratton base and Burris Zee set up looked in that link so I ordered a base and 2 sets of rings. I will put the 3 on this one and save the other for my next barrel !!

I mentioned the Weaver GS rings cuz I thought they looked like an inexpensive, very stout ring, but they were very disappointing, not a good buy IMO.

For stout Weaver style rings I'd recommend either the Leupold PRW's or QRWs, both are easy and quick to lap and are extremely solid mounts, the only complaint I've had with them and read about is sometimes they scratch the scope tube when snapping the ring cap on, but I use a piece of paper on the tube, snap the cap on, then slip the paper out from under the ring cap, no scratches ever. Same for removing the cap, work the ring around the tube over the paper, then snap it off. The backing from pressure sensitive labels works very well, it's tough and slick. 

Burris Signature Zees are my other favorite, no lapping, no ring marks and they can be used with the optional offset inserts for base/bore misalignment issues or building in elevation for long range shooting instead of a 10º or 20º base or shims under a base. They're also narrow enough for a 3 or 4 ring arrangement on a TC Base. My only complaint about them is they don't come in low or extra low.
