A good friend of mine traded me a 1948 model 70 in 22 Hornet that was in terrible shape someone had covered the stock with some kind of thick varnish filling in the checkering, but that wasnt the worse part of it they had opened the bolt face and re-chambered it to 222, well I got busy on cleaning it up after I fired several rounds thru it and it was wonderful, well after stripping the stock and re cutting the checkering and some general tender loving care it was a wonderful rifle, it will never be a collector well maybe but today I am the proud owner of a Sig sauer 239 and a colt officers model so he could get the rifle back!!
