Barnes Triple Shock bullets
« on: January 30, 2008, 04:38:52 AM »
Are the Barnes Triple Shock bullets good for brown bear, grizzly, and moose?  I want to reload them in 225 grain in a 35 Whelen.   Do you guys recommend a different load or bullet?
Thanks

They are my new bullet... haven't shot anything with them yet, but they group a little better for me than my partitions did.  The partition was always a good load though....

There isnt  more reliable bullet made, they retain more weight and penetrate better than ANY of the premium bullets made.Im sure you will see the other big names emulating the TSX in the near future.

I'm guessing that mouse was taken with a 20 grain triple shok in .17 cal?  Did you get full penetration?  I really don't like for my trophy mouse hunts to be ruined if they run off and hide in a wall somewhere if they don't DRT.  Did it charge?  Never been so scared in my life as when that last one came at me full bore with teeth bared.  He was only about 6 inches from my boot laces when I finally dropped him with a spine shot...  I was sweating bullets I tell ya'.  I still nearly spilled my 20 year old Scotch at the campfire that night just thinking about it!  Give us the details on the hunt!
