Tell me about Mobile Alabama
« on: January 30, 2008, 08:54:11 AM »
Guys it looks like Mama is going to get transferred to the Mobile area so we may be moving in the next few weeks .

What i need to know is what the housing market is like ?

What are the schools like ? have a 5 year old daughter

What areas to stay out of ?

Whats the hunting & fishing like ?

You know all the important stuff , work for me is not a problem as I'm a union electrician and can work down there and only have to take about a $1.00 cut in pay .

Any help would be great so i don't go into this blind .

All i can testify to is Mobile bay, it is huge and very good fishing.
About 25-30 miles out is the chandiler Islands more very good fishing, huge reds and trout.
sorry thats all.

Stimp,  You may have to take a small pay cut but your dollar will probably go farther in 'Bama than it does in O-hi if 'Bama is anything like NC.   The housing market is in a slump everywher so nows a good time to buy but a bad time to sell if you own your own home now.

p.s.: hope you like hot humid weather.   The good news is you will be able to golf and shoot year round.

Way too far south of me to help you with most of those questions you asked. We have a Bama forum here you can ask in and likely get responses from folks further south than me. I hope you like hurricanes as they do seem to like the gulf area and you'll get to experience one up close and personal sooner or later down there.

Hunting and fishing will be excellent and there is plenty of good public hunting for deer, turkey and hogs down there. I'd expect lease prices to be kinda high however as Mobile is one of our larger cities here in Bama.
