Leather vs Nylon Shoulder Holster
« on: July 03, 2003, 04:52:34 AM »
I have a nylon Uncle Mike's shoulder holster for my SRH 7.5" .454.  It is comfortable and typical stays put.  Occasionally it slips some when I bend at the waist, but not too bad overall.

My question is: "Does anyone have any experience with leather shoulder holsters?  Are they as noisy as nylon holsters?  My Uncle Mike's sounds like a megahone when I draw my handgun in cold weather.  Any opinions on the best rig for hunting?

I carried a RSB in a Bianchi X-15 for years when I lived in Alaska.  It's a  simple, handy, and yes, quiet rig.  Just pull it over your left arm, snap the lower end to your belt, and pull the elastic loop around your right arm.  It came with a short snap strap to "hold" the revolver in, but I found that it wasn't needed and pitched it.  The steel band built into the holster holds just fine.  Somewhere up in the garage is an Uncle Mikes nylon shoulder holster sized for the Super Blackhawk.  I tried it once, but felt like I was putting on a parachute harness, so it sits there 'till someone really really wants it.  My  :money:
