leather shell holders

I've been looking for a nice leather shell holder for the butt stock of my BC.
but, i'm not having much luck.. anyone got a link or two, to help my search ?

I do some leather work/ I thought about doing some up  but no BC stock to fit it to. trouble is time and material add up,

ya know i didnt even think of ebay. but i'll check them out

Tim,
 as always, thanks for the links. i spend what i need to but not more then i have to. and will spend even less if i can get away with it, spend a bit more for good quality, gripe if i get ripped off, spend other peoples money like water, and get stuff on credit from time to time.  :P i hope that clears things up  ;D

Foggy, did i read an offer in there somewhere ? lol .. in the next town over is a guy who does great leather work and he's pretty reasonable too. if i go that route then i'll have him make me a sling and shell holder that match, if cant find what i want.

I'am just getting my new man cave together.  I got one project to bond scope rails to shot guns   I have made shell holders in the past. along with slings, holsters, and cases. Once I get the decks cleared I'll be able to project and make patterns for different stocks they are not all a like. Handi's have 3 I can think of off handi (not counting  the survivor and varmint). I like things that fit just so. It has made my  list though

That's not counting the variations in the wood stocks, I have a stack of H&R take off recoil pads, you can't find two that have the same contour, some are quite a bit different since they're custom fit to each stock, there's as much as ¼" difference in comb height on monte carlo stocks and that's just what I've compared, I wouldn't doubt there's even more on some. :-\

 nope i aint had the chance to shoot it yet. ive been so so busy with school, i dont have time to do much else.
iam squeezing in some rabbit hunting in the morning though..

Tim, that a nice looking sling, no ammo loops though.. if it had them i could make it work by adding a regular sling swivel at the front end.

Foggy, for a better fit, make the sleve a bit small, wet it and stretch it too fit, when it dries it will fit tight and shouldnt slide around. what i'd like is a shell holder and sling combo

Glenn, that's why I said you could "work with it", leather is such a versatile medium, I did a ton of leather work when I was a buckskinner, from accoutrement and clothing to moccasins and all sorts of stuff, it's the original "fabric"!! ;D

i have always had an interest in the buckskinner/trapper/trader genre. think that its something special, traditional and have envied the guys that go that route, i have read where a few moved to BC canada or alaska and lived like that full time. if only
 by the way, has there even been talk/idea of  buffalo classic thread only. we talk about then in centerfire,singleshot, and bigbore.. are there any others ? i though it'd be nice to have  all the 45-70 info in one place... just my 2 cents

I made some leather shell holders once but they always slipped off and left the case stuck in the size die. ;D
I do a bit of the buckskinner thing each summer, maybe half a dozen rendezvous between Memorial Day and Labor Day and I sure enjoy it but even more I enjoy getting home, a long soak in the hot tub, a warm soft bed and no cannons going off at 2:00 AM. Even at rendezvous we pack in as much creature comfort as we can get away with. I have never felt I was born too late, this is exactly the time and place I want to be. I'm glad I never had to endure the life of 19th century Americans and I'd hate to even think about what will be left for future generations. Here and now is the time and place for this old hillbilly. ;D

I have an old fellow here in Libby Montana that has a little saddle shop. His wife passed away and kids have left home. I've made a deal with GB to show them here and I've agreed to help the fellow by taking care of the orders and shipping. They are hand made and have 4 shell holders on whichever side you like. He supplies nice latago straps to lace it up and I left the ends a little long and made a bolo of some moose horn that everybody says looks good. There is room for about 1/2" of pad and I used the sorbathane pads from Brownells as mine is in 45-120. I also have a 16 oz mercury recoil suppressor in the stock. I'll try to get some pics up right away. Price will be $65 shipped to CUSA by Priority mail. He does a kind of antique die job on them that gives it an old time look. I think you'll like em. GB yours is in the works.
