free floating synthetic stocks

Do you free float your synthetic stocks? I did one several years ago, don't really know if it made a difference.      TVC15

I do, I also bed Them. If I don't like the Performance, Then I start shimming inThe Forearm, to Find The right Pressure, Then I put a Pressure Point In.

If it shoots well and the action is bedded well, being synthetic the stock should be stabile and not need to be free floated.  If it is not shooting up to expectations and everything else appears good - action bedding, screws correctly tightened, scope, mounts, etc. relieving the barrel channel might be the answer - just like a wood stock.  Free floating often helps - but it isn't always the only answer as other conditions might be in play.

                 Best to make sure that the make of synthetic stock you have has a rigid forearm,if not it will flex against the barrel.

I put a synthtic stock on my Mini 14 and it shoots a-1 ok.
