I've always believed that the first bullet arriving at the target was the one least deflected by the wind. But I'm probably wrong again. Interesting discussion. Dave

The most wind defying varmint cartridge that I ever hunted with was the 22-243AI using 75-80gr bullets at considerable speed.

Wow, that sound like one heck of a varmint round.

I.

.. I was amazed and am now working on a 9 twist CZ 223 barrel but will have it chambered to use the 204 case...

The 204 is a .222 Magnum case necked down to 20 caliber......

What you'll wind up with is a .222 Magnum......

Bullet weight is wholly irrelevant. Wind drift is a product of BC and TOF.

You are correct that bullet weight is irrelevant.  Bullet MASS, however, generally referred to in its Newtonian derivative as WEIGHT, is a major factor in determining BC.   So if you are considering BC you are also considering weight/mass as well.

It is hardly “irrelevant”.

I think he meant that you don't need to consider weight if you have the B.C.
Weight has already been figured in the B.C.

The 204 is a 222mag case alright, but blown out as well.

Shoulder angle changed from 23 to 30 degrees on the .204.....

A .223 would be my choice, simply for the availability of brass....
