Spring loaded plunger???

Does anyone know what that is exactly. i heard that the rifleman chuck connors used one on his '92 to keep his bullets in place to be chambered??

You do know that was a TV show, and the gun was a prop, right?  That mod may or may not be possible with a real gun, and what you saw on TV was not necessarily historically correct or safe.
