What kind of Marlins does everyone have?
« on: February 04, 2008, 01:02:58 AM »
Being a guy that has Marlinitis, I'm curious in finding out what everyone shoots and what is their favorite Marlin. I have 18 of them with my favorite being my 1895G.

18? wow, I only have one and it isn't a true marlin it's a westpoint made by marlin for some store chain, I don't know which one. Oh yeah it is chambered for the old reliable 30-30.

I have a "trapper model" in 30-30 and a .450 Guide Gun. Both are great. In fact, I just got a new low power Leupold for the .450 and can't wait to see what she will do with optics!

I only have two. One is a store brand, "Foremost" by Marlin in 30-30. Made for JC Penney. The other is a Model 375 chambered in, what else, 375 Winchester. The 30-30 is a beater, but shoots great. It's my truck gun. The 375 has less than two boxes of shells through it. Of course, I scratched it the first time out. Both were given to me.

I actually purchased 8 of them, the rest belonged to my father. They are very old and in fantastic condition. I still hunt with most of them, but my favorite is still my 1895G.

Currently I only have my 336CS 35 Rem.  I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a 1894C 357 mag. soon though.

I too only have three Marlins.  But it also looks like I am the odd man out with only one being a lever action.
I have a 70's 1895 just plain rifle.
Here is where I differ from everybody else the other two are rim fire bolt actions.
882 in 22 Mag
917V in 17 HMR.
I really like the Mag best.  I need to upgrade the scope on it to a Weaver like on the 917.
Both are a lot of fun to shoot.

In lever action: a Golden 39-A and a 1894 in .44mag

I also have one bolt action .22 Model 883
and a Marlin Glenfield semi auto Model 60

My favorite is the 39-A and I have not shot the 1894 yet as it just arrived! I hope it's a good shooter!

I only have two Marlin levers - a ported M1895G and a M1889 .38/40 rifle (SN puts it in 1890 production).  Outside of the levers, I have the Glenfield 60 .22, the Marlin 15Y .22 and the Marlin 25M .22WMR.

I have one that is a .457 (shoots the 45-70) and two that are cambered in the 50 alaskan.  I guess I like a lot of recoil and big holes.

I have 6--I have now added 3 more sense I posted this post would also like to add a mod 39 22LR.I guess I need to be kicked as I passed on a as new 39 in 22LR for 375.00 at the last gun show. :) :) :)

336 in 35 remington and

1894 in 44 mag

336 in 30-30

336 in 32 Winchester special  this is the long barrel model.

1894 in 32-20 long barrel

1895 SS in 45-70 is as new was too nice to pass up 22 inch barrel very nice checkering. This is a blue mod. not stainless steel, cant wait to give it a test run.

Also have 2 Henry's 22 golden boy, 22 Winchester mag and  which shoot very good and are real smooth but money wise the marlin is still the best value for the money.

I have a 336C, made in 1982, in .30-30, and a 336C, made in 1975, in .35 Remington. Both are recent acquisitions. The .30-30 was given to me in November, and was used to collect two Va. whitetails. The .35 I have had about 6 weeks. I have re-finished both, and both are good shooters. I load for the .35 and it likes the 180 grain Speer FP bullets and H-4895......just wish I still had that 336A I bought back in 1974.

Thanks,

336 in .35 rem
1894 .357
1894SS .44mag

WANTS!
45-70 SS guide gun (ported)
336 SS 30/30
Any of the LTD SS guns, but I'd ditch the laminated stocks in favor of walnut.

Very early 1972 model 1895 in 45-70, original owner.  One of the best rifles I have ever owned and used.
