One thing about Marlin lever action rifles: they're all American! I've had no finer pleasure than to hunt with one of these historic weapons. No Japanese parts, here.

I recently picked up a 336 in 35 Rem. It was a 1974 make. It looked like it just came out of the box. The guy I got it from was given it by his f-i-l years ago who had took it in at his pawn shop. He shot it once, cleaned it, and put it up. No bluing wear or nicks of any kind. I'll use it a little just because I like the 35 Rem. But most likely try to keep it in nice shape to hand down to my grandson when he's big enough to appreciate it.

Just a couple......  All shooters, but nice enough for me!

1895G    45/70          (It wears a Holosight, handiest gun in the cabinet.)
1893    25-36
1893    30 WCF
1889    32 WCF
1936    30 WCF       Sporting Carbine
15YS    22 S,L,LR
1894    25-20
1893    38-55
27S    32 WCF
336    32 Special
336SC  219 Zipper
1893    30 WCF       Short rifle, PG, deluxe wood (no rear sight at the moment)
1893     32-40

Except as noted, the 1893's are standard rifles, next on the buy list is a 32 HPS rifle as soon as one appears in front of me.  Then I'll start working on carbines and short rifle/sporting carbines.  I'd love an original 1895, but available cash never seems to stretch past a few hundred $'s and here in MI '95's are always a couple grand even for a beater.

I have a model 336 circa 1975, in .35 Remington with a 2x7 weaver scope. This is my go to gun for still hunting in the Adirondacks. I also have a Model 1895guide gun. When Marlin came out with this model I immediately went to the gun shop and ordered one, sight unseen. That is something I have never done before or since, buying a gun sight unseen. It is in .45-70(of course), I originally had a williams peep sight on it, but have now gone to a Leupold 1x4. My third and favorite Marlin is a Model 1893 .30-30. I inherited it from a very close relative several years ago. It was made in 1905 and is still as tight as a swiss watch. It has a 24" half round, half octagon barrel. I still have not shot a deer with it but I think I will try and change that this coming season.

I am origionally from the Tupper Lake area, where abouts you from. My go to gun for deer is my 336, but for bear, my 1895G. Still do a little deer hunting around the Long Lake area.

My latest addition is the 1980 .35 Rem ... the bottom rifle. I took it to the range last Friday and found it to be a "shooter."

Thank you. I posted here on May 1st 2008 showing a picture of all of Marlins (Marlin 7000 .22lr , Marlin 1894 CBC .45 colt , Marlin 917V 17HMR , Marlin 336CS 30-30 , and my latest addition a Marlin MR-7 .270.) I also said in that post that I was looking for a .35 Rem and I found one late last year. I do not reload for the 30-30 but I now do for this .35 Rem. If I run into another .35 Rem at a good price, I will get it as I really like this caliber now. The MR-7 .270 is another sweet rifle. It is well built and smooth as glass. I have not reloaded for it but I might in the future if I decide to hunt with it.

Marlin 336W 30 30. Got a bunch of other stuff and like them but love this one. Kinda fond of shooting with arrows too. My nephew got the family 30 30 from way back in the early 1900s. He now flys choppers for the US NAVY. ( go DANNY )

Marlin Model 30-30
Marlin Model 1894-.44
Marlin Model 983-.22 mag.
Marlin Model 39A
Marlin Model 917V-.17HMR
Not near as many as some, but it's enough for now.  These are all wood stock guns.  Love wood, it's the old carpenter in me.

Guess I will chime in here also

  39A 22LR
  1894 44-40
  336CB 38-55

My favorite of the group is without a doubt the 44-40. It has an outstanding piece of wood on it for a factory rifle. It is also a great caliber to shoot.          Al

My favorite is obviously the 1893 Marlin, but the 1881 Marlin is a very close second for me! I've got every caliber, and almost every variation on the 1893/'93 Marlins. I think about 13-14 of them. In the 1881's I've got all the large frame calibers, and all the small frame calibers, plus both large and small frame deluxes. I think about 9-10 of the 1881's.
A few of every other old pre WWI era Marlin levergun also.

This is my 1894 FG 41 magnum after some work.  I chopped it to 16" and took off about a pound of wood to liten it up a mite. I have used it with FX ghost rings and will soon this shotgun scope.  The 41 is a great round and the new size is handi handi.   Hope the pix came across ok.

The shell casing in the photo is from a 3"x38" US Naval destroyer that I served on back in the day. That was a twin mounted gun.  The big guns on board were 5"x54" I think.  Small by many standards but put the hurt on the bad guys.   Gary

Model 336 30-30 RC made in 1959

Model 39A made in 1966
