easy open ?

Hello..Recently purchased my 1st Contender , serial # 306,### .. I see a lot of reference to EO here and was wondering if mine was or not..I understand that it's there was a major change around the #195,000 pistol . Was that one of the changes.?

Hi
It is easy to tell!!! The trigger guard pin...If the pin is above the trigger on the side of the frame. It is an easy open. If the pin is near the front of the frame it is not. The easy open frame trigger guard will form a gap, at the front of the frame. The forearms for the easy open have a "bevel" cut near the frame to handle the trigger guard swinging through that area.
The easy way to ID is to look for a pin just above the trigger on the side of the frame.

As you've probably already surmised, factory easy open frames started approximately with serial number 195,000 (1981) and ran until Contender frames were discontinued.    All Contender stainless frames were easy open.

Post 195xxx serial numbers is the best and most reliable identification.
