Trying to replace stolen .22 Winchester bolt-action.
« on: July 03, 2003, 07:45:16 PM »
In 1973 or 1974 I purchased a 22 cal Winchester BA.  This was later stolen.  I thought it was a Model 67, but discovered that this was not the model.  This rifle had a very fast firing mechanism.  It just sort of snapped!  The back of the bolt was squared off -- it did not look at all like a Mdl 67.  It had a hooded-ramp front sight and the trigger guard was squared off.  The dealer I purchased it from said that very few were made, and that they were of outstanding quality -- equal to an Anschutz any day.
It did not have a heavy barrel.  It had a 5 shot clip, I think.  I remember when I bought it that it also came in a single-shot model.  It was manufactured previous to the year I bought it -- it might have been two or three years old (but had never been sold).  It sold for more than the standard 22's, and for this reason few were made, but they were of a quality beyond the suggested price.  I was looking at an Anschutz and he said, " ... this is less money and at least as good a gun.  They made them too good for the price." It had a tapered forearm and a Monte Carlo stock.  The bolt handle was short.
I cannot find this rifle anywhere in any gun books.  Does anyone have any idea what it was?  It was VERY accurate -- probably enhanced because of the rapid lock time.

  Thanks.

There was a model that was available for just a few years, I think might have been Model 350. If memory is correct think it may have been made by Cooey in Canada and was offered by Winchester under their name and was available in single shot as well as a magazine fed version. If I can find my old data will post back. Glen

You were close -- it was a Model 350.  I found one on-line in Georgia.

  Thank you.

It was a Model 320.  The Model 310 was the single shot.
