Tikka #3
« on: February 08, 2008, 01:45:58 AM »
I bought myself another Tikka, I just love them. It is 2 years since I got a 223 Varmint, 18 months since I got 308 Lite and now a 243 Lite joins the crew. My idea with this rifle was to make it as flexible as possible. I bought one of the new Bushnell 6500 scopes. This scope is 30mm tube and magnification 2.5 to 16!! This gives a great field of view at 2.5* and still allows the same rifle to have 16 times mag, which is awesome. I would encourage anyone to check out these scopes, absolutely fantastic. It took just 6 shots to get it sighted in @ 100 yards, the clicks on the scope are spot on. The turrets are resettable to zero, another great feature. I mounted the scope with a 1 piece DedNutz mount, I have these on a number of different rifles now from 22mag to 7mm rem mag, they are solid as a rock!! Anyway, I didn;t have time to work up a handload for this rifle as it leaves for a hunt this morning. I bought the cheapest Federal 100gr in Wally world. Sighting in off a prcnic table and lawn chair in the mud still yielded a sub MOA group. This thing will hopefully shoot lights out with the right handload. My intention is to make this an all round , go to rifle from Coyote to hogs.

Ohhh MAN!  :-[
You had to go and do it.  I'm was with ya until the new 243.

I got my 595 WH in 223 from my wife 3 years ago (Leupy VXIII 6x20 30mm), just picked up a 595 WH w/synthetic in 308 w Leupy VXI 3x9 "previously loved" in LN condition - both sub MOA shooters.

I love em too.  Now I gotta find a 243?  Geez, I was saving for an AR (don't have one of them yet)

It's a sickness  ???

Congrats Old English - it's a beauty and will go nice with the sisters.

Took the new combo hog hunting this weekend. The scope is awesome, even when it was way too dark to see, the scope gave a brighter, clearer picture than my Nikon Monarch binos, and they are pretty good. Called in a sow and her piglets with my Foxpro and the Tikka didn't let me down. It's an absolute rush to see a full grown hog breaking out the brush and running at you at 20 yards, note to self, place caller away from body when hog hunting!!!! I took the 2 young pigs, about 40 pounds a piece, more than enough to drag through hilly, thick country. Probably burned more calories dragging them out the woods than eating them!! Anyway, Tikka #3 is blooded and nobody can tell me 243 isn't enough gun, the wounds were devastating. I was using the cheapest Federal 100 gr rounds.

Hey buddy! Good to see you here.
That scope looks so good on that rifle that I'd swear they came as one. Great way to break in that rifle and a great hunt.

Dalv,
I know the feeling, he already got me to order another Tikka in .243. You might as well just give in and hand that AR money over to the dealer and say Tikka please!
