Anyone ever seen a Turkey that was mostly White?
« on: February 08, 2008, 03:44:22 AM »
Now I am not talking about a Farm Bird.

I saw this hen many times in the school yard at the school I teach at in Haralson county.

She must had a lack of pigment situation, because she had black mingled in the tips of her feathers.

i;ve seen them from all white to severall different colors and i know they were hatched by wild birds but i.m.o i tend to think that alot of tame birds that excape and run to the wild have interbred with them and it pass there genes down.. too many have looked like bourban reds, great whites, and many other varieties of tame farm birds. now this is just an opinion of an old farm boy that has raised many of turkey and lost alot of them during the spring mateing season.
i maybe wrong but its what i believe..

yes the north flock on my place has a white/gray hen in the flock she is 2-1/2 old, its odd for one to live 3 years but she has, most of the time bobcats or coyotes would have killed her but i saw her today, she is in a flock of 20-25 hens and she has made it for near three years, we had one on the south flock about five years ago for one season then she was gone, the south flock was bad about crossing the road, lots of road hunters.

My huntin buddy down in Bacon County, Jawja, emailed me some pictures he took of a mostly white hen that came to his setup last season.
