Encore forend screws
« on: February 08, 2008, 09:54:54 AM »
Last fall, I bought an Encore and used washers to put space between my barrel and forearm.  However, getting those screws in there with the washers was a real bear, and I am not sure they are in there as securely as I would like.  So, I was thinking I would like to get slightly longer screws.  Can anyone out there tell me what length screws with what threads I should get?
Thanks,
Chris

Here's a thread I found with the search...

8-40 screws aren't likely to be found locally, I ordered longer screws from Brownell's for my Encore rifle barrel, one of their 8-40 refill packs should work for ya, they have $4.95 shipping on small orders if I remember correctly.

Here's a guy on Ebay that has him. He is a member of  site and many have bought from him. Cheaper shipping too http://cgi.ebay.com/THOMPSON-CENTER-ENCORE-FOREARM-SCREWS-BARREL-8x40-1INCH_W0QQitemZ160206674394QQihZ006QQcategoryZ73951QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemthis

That's a good buy, but they're 1" for rifle barrels, way too long for the short screw on pistol forends, bad link too, here's a good one.  ;)

Thanks. He didn't mention the pistol part. I haven't ever had that problem on an Encore or Contender pistol.

True, Chris didn't say it was for handgun, but since this is the TC handgun forum, I wouldn't assume it's a rifle either, there is a TC rifle forum too.   ;)
