Super Redhawk
« on: February 08, 2008, 03:00:15 PM »
We all know that the Super Redhawk revolver is one of the strongest.  How far with that strength take you?  I was looking at my empty boxes of Lazer Cast and realized that I have about 3,500 rounds through my gun now.  3,000 were lead SWC at 1,000 FPS.  The other 500 or so have been 180-300 jacketed bullets just shy of what the books say is max.  I'd say it's just now broke in, but how much shooting is high mileage for this gun?  20,000-30,000?

Anyone out there ever seen a shot out Ruger handgun?

I've seen the cylinder notches on blackhawks and vaqueros get mauled from hard use and timing(hand/pawl) issues, but with lead bullets at 1000fps, that barrel will last a long, long time.
The field mouse is fast, but the owl sees at night.
