Smith and Wesson Shotgun

Got a S&W pump shotgun.  Love this thing, but never had it apart.  I bought it in Turkey back in 1983, and brought it back to the states with me.  Took it out last week and forgot and left it in the truck for two days at 50 below.  When I brought it back in it no longer will fire.  When the slide is pushed forward, it is like it won't stay cocked, and the button that locks the slide forward when it is cocked won't drop down.  Any suggestions before I disassemble it.  I'm going to attempt to take it apart tomorrow sometime.

50 below ! Yikes ! It sure sounds to me like every little drop of lube in every little nook & cranny has frozen solid.

I would thaw it out & de-grease it thoroughly - then lube it with Dri-Slide or Graphite.

Field stripping and cleaning is a really good idea for any 25 year old good that's never been apart! It's likely the frozen or otherwise congealed lubricants that have accumulated over the years..
