 If the case mouths are fairly round and dent free I just load em up without resizing.

A lot of the bulk brass now available can get pretty dinged up. I run them through the resizer to be sure the case mouth is round, and spend some time inspecting.

Mot of my time on new casings is spent deburring and chamforing (especially the R.P.'s) 

Usually, if I'm going for all out accuracy, I will make a practice round out of new brass, fireform, then size (I full length) trim, etc, just to make sure my brass is as uniform as possible.

I have only used Winchester and Remington brass. I even up primer pockets, deburr the inside of the flash hole, round out the case mouth (usually not round), check OAL of the case and trim as needed and chamfer the mouths inside and out. I have found I do not have to full length size. Once I have done this, then I just clean primer pockets, check OAL length and trim if needed and rechamfer if trimmed. I neck size as much as possible so that I do not work the brass too much.

You didn't say what type of brass you were working with , strait walled, bottleneck ? I have made the mistake several times of loading new brass ( bottleneck ) without sizing only to find it would not chamber.
I would try to chamber some of the unloaded new brass before loading it, cause when you try to shoot it and your gun won't close you feel really dumb.       Jedman

Ordered a bag of 300WSM brass from Midway.  It was Winchester brass.  While working on the primer pockets I noticed one case had almost no brass foward of its shoulder.  It was a 243WSSM case that had been worked on a 300WSM die - not enough brass to make it.

I guess a machine operator reset the sizing machine to the larger case and forgot to purge a 243 WSSM that was still in there.

I bump the resizer ball thru the neck to make sure it's round, chamfer the mouth and then prime it, charge it, seat a bullet and fire away. If any round is exceptionally out of the group for no reason, I dump it in the brass salvage bucket.
Once the brass is 1X, I begin my serious case prep, trim to a uniform length, etc.

I am loading Remington .357 for a revolver. I re adjusted the dies and all seems well now. :)
