45-70 Factory Ammo Penetration test

Here's a penetration test of the slower Hornady Leverevolution ammo(1850fps vs 2050fps), Buffalo Bore 300gr(2350fps) and Garrett 420gr Hammerhead(1850fps).

WOW he must be a Winchester owner ;}, he cant handle the mighty Marlin or shoot to save his life, + he really used the wrong gun for that test he should have been using the marlin 1895XLR for the penetration test to get true accurate results. that and he was using the new Lesser power Hornady seeing they have drooped from 2050fps to 1825fps.

was that exotic plywood or run of thr mill U S plywood.
what kind of saw blade was he using, sure was sharp.

I did a similar test using magazines placed upright in a box used to hold computer paper. A 405 gr. Rem going 1365 fps. out of my Buff Classic stopped about 6 inches from complete penetration. The same bullet going 1620 went completely through the stuffed box. Enough penetration for me that's for sure.

I watched the renatration test with 410 AND 45 i hd not heard before that defense
load should have a mimium penatration of 12" on bad guys, I think that a bullet, penatrating me 3" would have a real efect on my thinking,like I PICKED THE WRONG HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like how on the bullet proof glass test they save the 12guage and the 45-70 for last.
