My early birthday present ... a 10/22
« on: February 10, 2008, 04:04:10 PM »
Even though my birthday is a month away, my wife thought it would be a great idea to buy me a rifle. Since I have started jackrabbit hunting with new friends after relocating, I have been using a Winchester Model 270 .22 rifle that I got from my father after he passed away. I have other .22's but they are scoped with bull barrels and not so good for carrying long distances. She thought it would be a very good idea to save the Winchester.

Well, I ended up with a new Ruger 10/22 Deluxe with a 22" ss barrel. Though I have never owned a 10/22 and have yet to shoot this one, it seems like a very well built rifle and pretty nice to look at too. I have no immediate plans to change the way it is now but might possibly change to fiber optic sights later as I will not be putting a scope on this one.

Sounds like a great wife and a keeper for sure! Remember your honey-do lists and she may get you a new sidearm to go with that rifle within a year.
I have never owned a 10/22 but liked the ones that I have shot. My darn 1971 vintage Rem Nylon 66 just wont quit and will probably keep me from purchasing another LR.
Have Fun!
