Barrel Length ?

when it comes to the 45/70, what is the best barrel length for the Hornady Leverevolution ammo?
i have a guide gun with ported barrel, i want to get it re barreled, just can not decided which length?

I have had both a Guide Gun and a 22" Sporter in .45-70.

The 22" barrel gets higher marks for both accuracy and performance - but not by much, as the're very close.
Close enough, that it's a matter of handling both to see which floats your boat better.

I've actually gotten to the point where I prefer, and carry, the 22" Sporter most often.

Although the Guide Gun was very appealing at first blush, I soon wanted some undefineable thing "more".

I agree about the accuracy of the 22" over the 18"  barrel.  I think the longer one is a touch more accurate, but not enough to make a difference say out to 150 yards. I carry my 1895G for deer, but I really like it for bear. Haven't found a critter in North America that this gun couldn't handle.
