Contender carbine front sight
« on: February 11, 2008, 04:20:20 PM »
Does anyone make a bead front sight for a Contender carbine?
I am shooting a 21" 357 mag barrel with a peep sight  and would like a thin front sight with a bead for a better sight picture.

Hey JW/OK
What kind of peep sight do you have and where did you get it. I can't find one to fit the contender?

JW/OK,
xs sights makes a ramp with a dovetail that fits the contender spacing.  i recently bought one. pn 12-2034a-032-1.  then you can use whatever type or hight bead you wish.

Thanks rdavid for the info!
The peep sight I have is a Williams that I bought on an online auction site about a year ago. The 357 mag is a real tack driver and is becoming my favorite for close work. It can't weigh much more than 3 lbs.
Am considering having it reamed to 357 Maximum, will this affect my accuracy with 38 Special or 357 mag loads?

I have a .357 MAX Encore that will shoot cloverleaf groups at 50 yards with .357 MAG loads.
Have only shot 38 Spcl at 50' indoor range, but they are extremely accurate at 50'.

I have peep sites on several of my Contender Carbine barrels.  T/C makes them, they can be ordered from Fox Ridge or through a gun shop.  I usually get mine from the local T/C dealer, he carries them in stock.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
