powder scales help needed
«
on:

Am in the market for some scales and am looking at the RCBS Chargemaster 1500 and the RCBS Rangemaster 750. I am only doing rifle loads in the 30 to 40 grain range. I am seeing prices of around $160 and $100 at Midsouth. Anyone with experience with either of these or something different, please help. thanks

I have an old original RCBS made by PACT I've had for way too many years to even remember how long it really has been. It came from Midsouth way back whenever it was I bought. It's been a good accurate and reliable scale for me. If I were to replace or augment it I think I'd like the newer RCBS unit that both weights and measures at the same time. That might be the Chargemaster but I've not looked to be sure.
However if you're really want to go low price Midsouth has one in the $30-$40 range that only weights to about 500 grains I think. I'm really tempted to get one of them to leave on my shotshell loading bench rather than getting up and walking over to my centerfire loading bench where my RCBS scale is just to save the time and effort since they are so cheap.

I got 3 of the old Redding scales. They are the best I`ve ever used, at least I like them best. The last one I bought I gave $ 10 for. The one before that was $ 15. I load on the Dillon so I don`t do alot of weighting of powder, but these scales seem to be extremely accurate.

Just bought an electronic on ebay for about $20. It is dead on to .1 gr. according to my mechanical scale at several weigh points.
It weighs in grams, grains, ozs, and carets (jewelry).

I have used the RCBS Chargemaster combo for several years now and have been extremely happy with both the dispenser and the scale. One great thing is you can buy the scale now and later on add a dispenser.
