I shudder at the thought...But, it's your gun and you can customize it any way you like...Just make sure you post some pics when the project is finished so we can all drool over it...

I'm still thinking of biting on the used one that I saw for $1100 and making it in to my semi long range hunting handgun...Just add a Weigand scope mount and a nice quality scope and I will be in business...

dont get to nervous. Even i wouldnt take a hacksaw to a FA gun. It will go to FA to be shortened.

Thanks for answering my un-asked question Lloyd. I thought there may be a 50% chance that you would let someone else do it but it makes sense to let FA make modifications to a FA revolver.
Do you suppose that they might have a new barrel of you specifications in stock that they will put on it to save them the time of the chop\crown\front site?
Perhaps they have a Mandrel to hold all in place so the barrel does not have to be removed?

Another question that I have is on the caliber. I know that you have plenty of .45's and if we want more power we go up to a larger bore diameter or heavier bullet but considering that this is a .454
will you bump the velocity up some if you would get the notion to take it hunting?

I doubt if id ever run it to its full capabilitys. im a firm believer that shooting cast much faster then 1300 fps doesnt help much if any and my even be detrimental to bullet performace. I can run a stock large frame ruger 6 shot to 1200 with a 300 and that will kill about anything. What i will probably do with this gun is run 350 lfns to about 1200 fps. So as you can see its not going to do anything a 45 colt wont do. But thats my opinion of the 454 anyway. Unless a guy is shooting silly loads like 250 jacketd bullets to 2000fps a good strong 45 colt will do anything a 45 bullet needs and if i want more i will step up to a .475 or .500 and shoot heavier bullets with a bigger metplat.

Nice looking gun Lloyd!  Yes, it will look much better with a 4" barrel.  Maybe you could leave it out in the cold and it might shrink.  You have good, common sense when it comes to loads.  There ain't anything in north america that you can't take with a 300/350 hard cast bullet at 1200 fps!  Enjoy.  44 Man

I hope to come up and do some shooting this summer with you guys. I have been re-assigned back on Road Patrol as of the first of this year. With that, I now have to work every other weekend. If the weekend falls on one that I am off I have a way better shot of making it. I would like to see that Freedom Arms in person. Well... maybe I don't want to see it. I might have to get one for myself.....
