Anyone know were to find a butt plate with a trap door ?
« on: February 12, 2008, 01:38:16 PM »
I looked around Midway USA and the only thing i found was a steel butt plate for an M1 garand that had the door in it . do you guys know of source with maybe a few different types ? I am hoping to put one on my 22 bolt rifle and make a compartment for extra ammo and a mini survival kit of sorts. superdown

Here is a 22 with a trapdoor buttplate, 'tho I can't find a photo of it.  Maybe you could order a replacement plate from them.

Butt plates with trapdoors in them were supplied on the Winchester 1873, Winchester 1876, the SMLE, and the Spencer rifle.

I would suggest you look for one in the italian parts section or maybe an old gun parts dealer.

Thanks for the suggestions guys i looked at Brownell's also but they seem to be lacking in the picture dept. for their parts. The t/c looks like good a option . I'll also look at the Winchester plates. superdown
