AR180B Anyone have it yet?

Handled the new ArmaLite 180B in the gun store the other day and was impressed with the way it handled and how lite it was. Does anyone have one yet? How does it shoot?

OK, I bought a 180B for $599, after taxes $638. I love it! I have fired 400 rounds +/- through it. I have owned an AR15A2 since 1990 and have a love/hate relationship with it. I consider the gas tube system of the AR15 a liability. The AR180B has a pushrod. The rifle does not get as dirty as the AR15. Also, the AR180 utilizes the AR15 trigger group and magazines. It weighs less, too. The AR180 appears to be a winner for Armalite.

Almost another year has gone by, how do you like your 180B so far?  How reliable and accurate is your?  I often wonder given the 180B is 1/2 the price of of the 15A2, is it well designed?

My 180B should be delivered in one week.  Just can't wait!

I just found one in the gunshop for $650, and I'm considering it.  What do you thing so far??  I'm trying to decide if I want to spend the extra $400 for the AR15.

I have put approx 120 rounds thro my 180B in the last three weeks. Most of the rounds were used for sighting in the scopes (First the Holosight and now the 6-24x varmint scope).

Given that this is my first black rifle so weight my comments accordingly:

1.   The base of scope mount is not very precise and sitting too high from the barrel. My conventional bore sighter wouldn’t work. I wasted a lot of round to sight-in the scopes. It was shooting 6-8 feet higher at 100 yards.

2.   The grouping with the Holosight was around 4-5”. I don’t see that well at targets at 100 yards so I switch to a 24X scope. Just managed to sight it in yesterday. It was doing 4-6” at best.  I think I can get it down to 2-3 by trying other types of ammo and/or hand loading (The only ammo I have used is the 62 gr Winchester White Box).

3.   A lot more work to do for cleaning as compared to a standard bolt action rifles.

Having said all that, I only use it for plinking and have a lot fun doing it. It looks cool as well.
