I installed a brass trigger guard from Dixie, just like Buckwheat Jack did.  Just cut the old trigger guard off flush, drill & tap the receiver and drill the stock.  Polishing the triggerguard will take quite a bit of work though.  I think it looks better than just a brass replacement triggerguard.

Chas do you have the Dixie part number for the trigger guard?

Actually, I was hoping no one would ask. ;D  The story is a bit longer than I previously posted.  The triggerguard I got was TG7806, which would fit fine.  When I took it to my gunsmith to get him to drill/tap the receiver, he traded me out of it for one he had that was already polished.  I was partially finished polishing the one I bought, but the trade sounded good.  I'm not sure what the number is of the one that's actually on it now.  He stops in to this forum from time to time so he may offer a reply.

 Very nice.

I am doing somthing similar. I am building a Handi 12 guage with a long forend, with a cleaning rod. cutting a palletwood to resemble a ky rifle. Installing the brass butt pad and trigger guard like yours.

There's a link in the FAQs to a bunch of trigger guards at TOTW that would work.  ;)
