IMHO the price seems on the high side.

I'd be willing to pay up to $40.00 for blued steel.

All of the above: steel, brass or aluminum (preference in that order) and I would likely buy 2 sets at $40/$50 a set. Probably just one set at $70+ for now. I too would consider rough set that needs polish, final finishing at a lower price and a finished set at a higher price.

  Tim,
I'd take a set in blued steel or brass at $70. Black anodized aluminum would hopefully be less.

I agree with Tim,... I spent half that much on brass parts that don't fit right and I had to do all the finishing work.  $70 seems about right to me.  I love the brass on the BC, but blue steel would be more useful for all the rest.  I wouldn't want to pay 100, but for my more refined BC.  I'd love to see a syn forearm with metal spacer.

So,... Yes, no more than $85, blued steel number one and brass number two.

Blued steel would be my preference.  Black anodized aluminum would be my second choice.  My fear with aluminum is that it would not wear well.  At $50 a set I would probably spring for 4 sets right away.  At $70 or more I would still buy 4 or 5 sets but it would take me twice as long  ;D

thank you tim for this poll, i posted the thread a few weeks ago about the steel tigger guards and forend spacers, as i said before i was at a shop running cnc machines making 1000's of parts per day, i showed him a handi-rifle and asked if he could make the plastic parts in steel parts he said could, but would run a CAD drawing on the parts to set up the machine, the parts would be run out of steel, but i like i said before he wanted a run of 1000 parts per each guard and spacer, the part he was running was about the same size as a forend spacer, but after the part is made it has to be deburred, polished, buffed, drilled, [ a jig set for drilling forend holes ] then put in hot blue tank for finish, then polished again, so there is alot to making just a small part, when i post this a few weeks ago there was alot of guys wanting to buy 3-4 sets for their rifles, like i said before i am not getting into the gun parts business, but there is a demand for these parts but a 1000 at a time ?, i think if we could get someone to make them in smaller runs to start with, and see where it goes, i think around 45.00 to 50.00 if a good size order was placed all at one time, thanks to you guys who read and made posts on my post of this subject.

I would buy a couple sets if they were in the $40 range. I don't hate my plastic ones enough to pay much more IMO. I have other projects that earned priority.
Blued steel and Polished Brass, my 2.
Barrel bands would be cool in brass as well, just my opinion.

For the record what I am thinking of is the band that goes around the barrel and the forend as in the pic of my Mannlicher 30/30 below (shown is a plastic one that I 'borrowed' from my wife's Henry 22 lever gun just to see how it looks).

You can't see it very well, but there's a 'gold' hammer on this one (got from quick some time ago) and the rig would look good with a brass trigger guard, spacer and forend band!

I saw the other thread about barrel bands that clamp or fit on just the barrel, and that is not the kind that I'm interested in.

I had this discussion with Gary earlier in the week when we were talking by phone. I knew you guys had asked about a different height of the Talley product already in production for your guns and so that was kinda one of the reason I called him. While talking I asked if the trigger guard and spacer were items he might have an interest in producing to sell. I figured if they were it would help you guys and help him as well.

Gary indicated a definite desire to work with us on anything they have the capability to make at a profit to sell to folks. I seem to recall a comment from him that as long as he was sure an initial run of 30-40 would sell he likely would be willing to take them on. We did not discuss price.

What I'd expect to take place is that as long as they feel confident their minimum quantity requirements will sell fairly quickly they would make them up and then offer them as an additional product in their lines. It won't necessarily be a one time deal where you have to get them now or never but something they willl make runs of periodically I'd think and have available and when they run out or maybe just real low would do another batch. At least I think that's how it's likely to work.

Talley seems a company willing to listen to what customers want and are willing to work with you to fulfill those needs as long as they can do it at a profit rather than a loss.

I would be interested in a trigger guard for each reciever.  Right now I only have one but more will be in my possession in the future.  However, I have three barrels and would like three fore end spacers.  Blued steel is my preference.  $70 for the set is OK.

If I had my druthers, I'd like them in blued steel. If they could be sold for $75. or so a set, I would go for two sets right away. When a person considers the start-up costs ( program CNC ), labor costs for polishing and blueing, AND turning a profit, $75 does not seem excessive.

matte steel at $50 for the pair would nice.

machined matte aluminum might be more reasonable from talley ... and surely hard finished aluminum would wear better than that nylon or whatever it is ...

I voted Yes.  I would like both blued steel and polished brass, ditto for barrel bands.  The price mentioned is fair to start a run.  Hopefully, increased production would bring the cost down.  I too managed to get one of the last H&R sets. ;D

I would love a set of brass for my BC.  I hate the plastic.  Would probably pay up to $70 or so for 1 set.  Wouldn't mind doing the finish my self if it was cheaper. Would also probably buy a couple of steel or aluminum for my shotguns if the price was cheaper.

I voted yes but would hope the price would be more in the neighborhood of $40-50.

I agree. I realize the manufacturer has to turn a profit and I am all for that, his being a Sponsor here at GB's and all, but I also think, from reading the responses to this post and query, the choice is going to be between him selling many at the $40 range or just a few at the $70 price. He will figure out where his best and most repeated and continuing profit is (as opposed to a one shot deal at the higher price) and go with it. We will either each buy several for our guns or perhaps buy one (or none) for a special gun. I really don't think the plastic pieces are that bad, especially when the alternative is $70 per gun to upgrade. That's my story and I'm sticking to it....<><....:)

Yes, blued or alum.

Buy more at $50 but $70.00 is a fair price.

I would start with two sets in either brass or blued steel, even white steel.  Probably would get more later.

I would try at least one set in anything but aluminum @ 70.00.  I would like to see a larger trigger guard 'cause we wear gloves here on the 4th of July.
