I wanted to order a couple of sets from H&R, back when they were still available,  but couldn't justify it at $70.   I would order 3 sets now at $40-$50,  blue steel would be my preference.
My prayers are always answered,  sometimes the answer is no...........

About 7 years ago, H&R offered a steel trigger guard, spacer, and a 1" iron stock weight for $70.00 for Buffalo Classic owners. There was a group of BC owners, that were forming an association for postal shoots, general information,  and CAS matches. I sent mine in then. Plastic parts really don't cut it with that rifle.
It would be interesting to know if anyone has ever had them break.

I would like at least a couple.  Mat finish, or a nice brass finish would also be real nice with the lam stocks.  DP.

Since H&R rifles come in blued steel or stainless I would like to see both colors offered... (blued or black) and (stainless or nickel). Why not try to get H&R to do away with these cheap plastic parts and replace them with metal parts in the first place? I think most of us would pay a few dollars more for a better quality product. Leave the plastic parts for toy guns!

That would price H&Rs totally out of the budget market for the majority of H&R consumers, the low price of an H&R is partially due to the low cost of production of the trigger guard and spacer, increasing the cost of the rifle by $70+ or more would put it out of the budget class it's in. Now if they made it an option as they did with the original blued steel parts, that would be different, but even the limited editon Talo models had plastic parts.

Not since he emailed the end of Feb that he was working on the drawings, if he doesn't contact me this coming week, I'll give him a call and see what's up. He knows we're serious, so I just didn't want to rush him.  ;)

I can't imagine that mass produced metal trigger guards and spacers would increase the cost of a H&R rifle by $70.00. The plastic ones that they are presently using cost less but there still is a cost involved. Deduct that cost from metal ones... guess I just don't like the feel of plastic on a high power rifle!

I can tell from all the happy Tikka T3 Lite owners, myself included, that plastic parts aren't all that bad, get used to it, more are to come, I have no doubt, as long as the parts are serviceable, they'll be made to keep costs as well as weight down.  ;)

I'm interested but that price seems a bit steep.  For another 30 or 40 dollars I could get another barrel through the accessory program.  I'm a price buyer though.

G'day all,

I would be interested in a set of brass ones, but the trouble would be getting them here in Australia. It would not be the question of freight but our customs are completely stupid about people importing bits for guns.

Shouldn't be a problem, I've sent scope rails and reloading dies to friends in Australia. ;)

I talked to Gary today, he's in the process of installing new equipment to make the TG and spacer, as soon as he gets some prototypes made, he'll send them to me to check out, so the ball is rolling, it just takes some time for a good product, so stay tuned.  ;)

Tim,

This is great news! Let us know how it goes. Has he thought about price yet on these?

He has to get em finished before he knows how much time/material it takes to make em, then he'll let me know.

The milling of each part will take less than 15 minutes.
Deburring will probably be done in a vibratory finisher with some hand deburring
Then probably some polishing on the exposed surfaces. If he is careful with the programming the polishing and deburing will be minimized.
Then they will be blued in batches.
It is easy to estimate the cost of the processing but he has to have some profit and pay for the tooling, programming and process development.
Making some of these small parts can be a real PIA  because they are difficult to make a simple fixture to permit machining complete in a few setups.

That remains to be seen, I don't think Talley makes any brass products, likely it will be blued aluminum.

$70.00 a set (triggerguard and Spacer) is definitely in the price range...more than that?  they do need to keep in mind how many peopel would be willing to put $100.00 worth of gun parts on a $250.00 rifle ...That might be reaching point of diminishing returns...

Hello to the members of the forum, this is my first post, hope all goes well.  I have two new H&R's one BC classic in 45-70, and a target model in 38-55.  I am very much interested in the steel trigger guard and spacer set, in fact two of them.  I think $75 per pair is fair, and $100 would mean only one set for me at the present time.  Blue steel for sure.  I just hope inflation has not placed small runs of parts, out of reach of the common man.

I am in for a set, but only if it is steel or brass. Price is fine by me, but aluminum is definitely not!

Thanks!

I would take at least two sets @ $75 or so.

Personally, I would prefer steel, but aluminium would be ok.

Thanks for the poll.

I would go $40 for the set but would prefer them separatly.  The plastic trigger quard doesn't bother me but I would like a metal forearm spacer.  Aluminum would be OK.
