Anyone else see the new H&K 22LR? It's interesting.

I saw that H&K is coming out with a new 22LR rifle that looks like one ot their MP5's.  It's called the "GSC 5 22".  It looks like it'd be fun to play around with but it's pretty expensive for a 22LR.  They start between $400 - $500.  I just thought I'd see if anyone else has heard anything about it.  They have a couple on gunbroker.com for sale now.

Last I hear they were still awaiting final approval. Good to see they're out.

They're awefully "plastic" for my taste, given the price range. I'm not much into "tacti-cool" rifles, either... It will definitely fill a niche and make a lot of young shooters very happy, though.

If given a choice, I'd pick a Ruger Charger in an instant....though I realize they really aren't in the same class--I think you'd get a lot more rifle for your money with the ruger, though.

For all practical purposes it's hard to beat a ruger 10/22 for well under $200.  I'm just thought the idea of a MP5 in 22LR would be fun to shoot, but expensive to purchase.  I've never actually seen one with my own eyes, but on the web.
