9.3x62 CZ or Bruno?
« on: February 14, 2008, 06:32:45 PM »
Hi

I looked at a used 9.3x62 in what I think was a CZ, the name Bruno was not
on the rifle. It did say Mod98 and it looks like a Mauser action.

Can somebody help?  Did CZ make mod98's?

Not that it would make a difference to the rifle, it is beautiful,
fits me like a glove. It is spotless and has a 2x7 Leupold on.

I think I might have to go and speak to a bank manager or somebody!!

Sweet

If my memory serves me correctly, CZ was the national firearms maker in Czechoslovakia headquartered in Brno.  Brno was a trade mark for foreign exports of CZ firearms at one time and is still found occasionally.  CZ USA is the American outlet for the same manufacturer.  Almost all rifles were based on a modified Mauser 98 action.   Many of the export BRNO rifles had a safety that worked backwards from our American models.  That is you moved the side safety by the right side of the action to the rear for fire and forward for safe.  Exactly opposite the similar positioned and styled Remington safety.  They are of good quality materials and operate flawlessly.  Either is a good firearm and almost identical in manufacture.
