Cast bullets don't do to well in the ML2, unless you cut down on the velocity. I have been shooting this gun for a couple of years, and am not an expert on it by any-means.
I shoot the 250 SST, over 43 grains of 4759 in a harvester short to get a velocity of 2275 +/-. This gets me under an inch at 100 yards, and venison in the freezer. As an inexpensive practice/hunting alternative, I also shoot the .452 XTP in 250g. Same load, almost the same result. I haven't shot the 5744 load yet, but I do have a can of it. For some high speed fun, try some 4198. I hit 2600 fps with the 250's, but I forget the load.
For maximum accuracy, let the barrel cool off between shots. A warm barrel will change the flexibility of the sabot, which will change the accuracy of the load.
Check out Doug's message board for a savage ml2 dedicated forum. LOTS of good info there..
Good luck
