I have seen one in Midway USA. Go to gun parts and look at Remington model 700.
Nothing like a Remington model 700xcr

May I ask what a clip conversion kit is? Thanks Dale

It lets you use hi cap mags instead of the 4 round built in magwell.

I kind of thought that might be what it was. Is it hard to modify the stock for this. Dale

The kit comes with a new trigger guard assembly so you dont have to modify anything if you have a stock with a drop plate.

Nonya I have as you probably know a 243 SPS Varmint. I would think the same kit would work on it. Can you tell me the cost and maybe post a link to the one you found. I could go looking but might end up with the wrong one. Thanks Dale

Nonya come on now. It is the same case. I would think it would be the same. You are right though. You can not assume. Dale

Yes any of the short rounds based on the .308 case should feed any of the .308 based rounds equally well so you should be able to use .243, .260, 7-08 or .308 interchangably. Same with '06 based rounds any of them should work equally well with any of the mags for that family.

Im a bit confused, the one on Cabelas the Quick clip says it works on a bunch of rounds up to the 7mag,I guess its for long action only?

I removed the trigger guard and clip from my 7mag,its WAY too long for the stock on the 308 VTR,there are other brands avaliable but im not paying $300 for a clip conversion...

I just bought an HS model from a gentleman on another forum yesterday. I wanted the 10 rounder from the get go but 4 will have to do for now. Used but in Excellent condition for 190.00

I'm been on Midways "email me when its back in stock" list for over a month, but those are like 250.00 for the 4 rounder and 280 for the 10. This cheap project turned into being not so cheap  :P

Yes, this one is for Long actions only and will not work for your .308.

This is the one you need:

I had one of these on a 223 once and really liked it. I will probably be buying another one next week when I go pick up ...................................

my new VTR !!!!!!!!!  In .308 of course. I ended up taking the money from my Sendero and transfering it over to the VTR. Hope I made the right choice.
