Remington model 7, how much $
« on: February 17, 2008, 02:02:08 AM »
Because of some neck problems, back problems, old age problems and some other wimpy problems,I have decided to go with a lighter and milder kicking rifle for deer hunting and pretty much favor the thoughts of the Remington model 7,chambered for the 7mm-08. I have looked on the Remington site and see the Model 7 CDL listed for over $900.00 What can I expect to pay for one at the dealers ? Also, I thought that there was a cheaper version of the Model 7 then the CDL but I don't see that listed on Remington's site. The CDL is a beautiful rifle for sure,I have a new one in 300 win. mag. and I only shot a half dozen rounds out of it,great shooter but what was I thinking? Old men and young horses don't get a long either.

I could be off in my guesstimate on dealer price but I'd plan on 725 - 775' ish if I were you.

That 25th Anniv. edtion is a sight alright!  :o I never new it existed until just now. I can't go to their website anymore, the anxiety from wanting every model I lay eyes on will be the death of me  :(

I gave 742.00 before tax for my Model 7 CDL in 7MM-08.  That was in September 07.

Thanks for the comeback on the prices. Now I have an idea of what to expect. I think I'll have to sell something that never gets used, like my .338

The CDL was msrp'd @ $720 when they came out 2 years ago. Now they're priced 30 percent more. what's up with this. I'd be looking for a used Model 7. Saw one yesterday @ My local shop. Think He wanted around five for it. You should be able to do better. Not many used Model 7's on the shelf in My area. Seems that Whoever has one, doesn't want to part with it. I think I paid $350 for a 6mm, when They first came out, should never of traded that gun. IMO - The Model 7 is the standard for a prodution light weight carbine. Believe it or not, Big Green still does have some very good Engineers and Talented Smith's. Yes - That anniversary Model does look good, Just don't like the Price, although, I didn't like the Price of the 660 Mag. back in '70, { $145.00}, still kick Myself for not going the Extra $20. Imagine That!!!

My favorite gunshop was sold over the Christmas holidays. Prior to that he had M7 CDLs listed at both new and old prices. The old was $579 and the new was $729. It just so happened the one I wanted (.260 Remington) wasn't in stock so I had to pay the new price to get him to order one for me. The lower priced was .243 and I think he had two in stock.

The older cheaper versions have been discontinued but are still out there used. Some are not so much cheaper however than the new ones. I bought a used .308 with the SS metal and black plastic stock last year as well with a Leupold VXIII 2.5-8 mounted on it for $829 those prices were for me all out the door prices as I bought so much from him but they were plus tax for most.

The new owner has one of the newer anniversary models in 7-08 on the shelf and it is a pretty thing and is calling my name each time I go in the store. I think he has it marked about $879 or so as I recall and it seems I no longer am gonna get special status and cannot take them out the door for the price marked on them but must pay tax as well added but on the last gun I got there I did get some discount from marked price just not as much as I used to get.

I really like the M7s with the camo stock, SS metal and fluted barrels but just didn't want one in 7-08 or .308 badly enough to pay the well over $750 price asked for them. If they had made it in .260 I'd have taken that rather than the CDL. They do now make another camo version called I think the Predator that is lower priced than the CDL or anniversary gun.

Thanks again for more input on the Model 7. Looks like I may have to wait for that good deal or used rifle. The new prices seem pretty steep but in this day and age,no wonder. If it is ment to be,it will be.
