magazines other than original Glocks
« on: July 06, 2003, 06:45:50 PM »
I've been seeing auctions around for unnamed metal magazines for my Glock 17, as well as ones from a company called Scherer.

Well I was wondering if these magazines are recommended for my G17, or if I should really seek out the original magazines from Glock.

Thank you
Joshua

I have only used mags for my Glock that were made by Glock.  If you buy an after market look a like and then it doesn't work you may be stuck with a product that is less than worthy.

Stick with regular Glock mags, the cost for the extra round capacity really isn't worth the extra money spent.  10 round mag $19.00 to $22.00 depending on dealer.  Hi-cap pre bans run between $80.00 and some places over $100.00

Just my .2 cents on hi-caps

From what ive seen its not worth it for only a few bucks. The aftermarket (cheap) mags are hit and miss. Some function great (for a short time) some are junk right from the start. Either way its not worth it.

Thanks for the replies guys, this brings up one more question.

In terms of FML or NDF, are the FML ones actually better or is it simply a case of preference.  In other words, GLock stopped making the NDF ones for a reason... is that reason actually that the newer mags work better in the newer guns?

I believe they stopped using non-FML mags because they were designed to not fall free, and that annoyed the American market.

NDF vs FML GLOCK Magazines
« Reply #5 on: September 01, 2003, 09:16:58 AM »
 Jump2000,  Hello!  The GLOCK FML magazines are more durable and seem to function better.  The sides on the GLOCK NDF magazines bulge when they are loaded; this prevents the magazine from dropping free.  (An inconvenience, at best, and a genuine hazzard in a gunfight!)

If I had to use another manufacturer's magazine in my GLOCK, it would be a Scherer; these seem to be the most reliably built of the aftermarket crowd.    Regards, 'Arc Angel'
