I say go for it!!!!! I have the same rifle but right hand. It is a real tack driver. Here is a target I shot at 300 yards. The group measures 7/8". Dale

I just found the gun of my dreams. It is a Remington Model 700 SPS Varmint in .243. It has a OD Green synthetic stock. It came with a 4-12x40mm Rem. scope.(Not the greatest, but it will get the job done.)  It ran for $550 USD, but there is a Remington rebate thing for $30 USD and I have a gift certificate for $15 USD.(So, like $505 USD.) And on top of all that it looks SwEEt! But tell me if it is good and worth it. I found this at dicks.(P.S. If you have any pics pls post them.)

Well factory ammo has gone way up lately. For the Hornady 58 grain VMAX it costs $30.00 for a box of 20. That is the ammo my rifle likes. You can buy some Remington 100 grain SP for I think under $20.00 a box of 20. If you don't allready you should try to get into reloading. I just have started getting into it myself. Dale

Yes it will save you a ton of money in the long run. This kit here has everything you need to get started. You will want to ad other things as you go but this would get you started. http://www.leeprecision.com/cgi/catalog/browse.cgi?1203455829.1297=/html/catalog/anivers.html You would still need powder, primers and bullets. Instead of $30.00 a box for ammo you could get it down to under $10.00 a box of ammo so you could do three times as much shooting. Dale

Ya, that's not a bad price. I don't have to buy a scope now 'cause the gun I want has one. So, i can probably buy that. But it looks hard to do.

If you can read and follow directions you can do it. I would suggest that your father be present while you work with it. After all you would not want to blow your house up. The things that you can't figure you can ask about on the hand loading forum here on the site. Here is some good reading so you will know what is involved. Just so you know the picture at the bottom of my post is my 243 Remington SPS Varmint. I camo painted the stock myself. Is this your first rifle? If so you have picked a great rifle for a beginer. It has low recoil witch is important when learning how to shoot. Dale
