Old Marlin Ammo
« on: February 18, 2008, 04:40:30 PM »
I have an old Marlin .32 model 1894 that was my great grandfathers gun.  I've found out it was made in 1914 so I know I can fire modern ammo in it.  The problem comes in finding ammo.  I can still get .32 colt short rounds and I have one box of .32 cold longs (now out of production) but it's almost impossible to find brass for the colt long.  Someone at a gun show suggested to try .32 S&W rounds.  He admitted he didn't know much about Marlin guns so I don't know if I should try these rounds or any.

Anyone have any insight into this?

By the way it has the center fire pin in it not the rimfire.
I can't control my day, but I can control my attitude.

I'm not real sure about it either. You can try going to a Marlin board and ask that question to the real experts.

These will give you your answers.

You might want to consider hanging it on the wall. I have a very old Marlin my dad had which hangs over the fireplace now. Just didn't want anything to happen with it.

You can also try this for ammo.

It is possible you have a 32-20 but the place to find out is on the Marlin Owners forum in the collectors forum. Here is a link, post your question and I'm sure you will get an answer from guys who know.
