Question on Shipping / Selling Ammo
« on: July 07, 2003, 08:17:14 AM »
While it isn't really collectible I thought this would be the best place to ask:

I came across a couple of boxes of Rem 32-20 ammo from the 1950's and also some 38 sw long over the weekend.

I was thinking that maybe I'd sell it online, but don't know much about the various best known methods for shipping and verifying buyers age?

Anyone who's got any pointers or tips - let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Here's my contribution: The Post orfice will not take loaded ammo, don't even try! That leaves UPS, but for small packages, the cost is higher than USPS. They also told me they want it double boxed. To keep the law happy, I ask for a copy of a picture ID with DOB and a simple statement that their town does not restrict them receiving loaded ammo. That's more than Midway does, now that I think about it! oh yeah, NO out of country shipping. It can be done but I don't want the hassle. Anybody want to add to that? I'm willing to learn too.

I forgot to add that e-Bay does not allow loaded ammo, but auction arms does. I tried various ways on e-Bay, but they cancelled three listings for "box only" this past weekend. I give up.

Hi Nate,

You can log onto (2) very good sites to sell your ammo.  One is AuctionArms.com, and the other is GunBroker.com.  They offer a very fine aauction of all types of sporting eqipment to include weapons and ammo.  The log on to sell process is very straight forward. You can even take digital pictures of your stuff and add it to the auction.

After the sale, either of the auctions will bill your credit card for very reasonable fees.  They contact you & the buyer to let each know of the completion of the auction. You can then use the supplied e-mail address of the buyer to contact them and have them send you the auction final price + shipping charges.  I usually go with $8 per package. This will cover shipping and packaging for the most part.  Good Luck on your sales.
