This is truly a bad, bad idea.  On the surface like most reasons given for the safety and protection of society, the true reason is another attempt to circumvent the 2nd Amendment.  Once a data base is created supposedly to catch criminals, it easily could be used to seize lawful firearms or target geographical areas of high concentrations of firearms possession by enactment of more stringent and restrictive arms ownership.  The end does not justify the means in this instance.

A number of people from another site have contacted their local reps, and in at least two cases, Wa and Pa, it looks like it won't have enough support to grow legs.

This does not mean that people shouldn't get on the horn to their reps and express their disatisfaction.
