Looks like the U.S. cleaned up the threat to the earth, and sent a message at the same time.
LOOK  all you powers to be we can shoot down satilites from a bobing boat from the
middle of the ocean. :o

A US Navy ship successfully shot down a spent US Spy satellite today.  The official reasons given was that the fuel on board was a hazardous material and they also did not want any secret technology to fall into the wrong hands.  But I, like Rex, also believe that it was also meant to be a clear demonstration to other world powers such as China, North Korea, Iran, etc. of our capabilities to destroy satellites and or missiles in outer space.

Yea I think there was a message sent to the rest of the world when we blew it up. I just hope we can shoot in coming missiles headed for our soil if it ever happens. Dale

Although it was a spectacular shot .Remember it was ours ,it was only 134 miles away and it was defenseless. We better of been able to shoot it down. Kurt

A little while ago Russia made a big deal about them shooting down one of their satellites, telling the world "Look at us we can do something the US cannot."  Now we have shown we can also do that.  It's like we can do anything they can do, and proving it.

pretty sure it was china that shot down a spent weather satelite not russia but all the same...

And while super powers are taking target practice at space objects , third world countries are training and engaging in flying planes into buildings , destroying trains and blowing up buildings .
lets pat ourselves on the back quickly and get back in the trenches and clean up the terrorist ! before we have another real tragedy in this country !

It's probably not common knowledge, but we could have shot down, or more correctly, blown away that satalite, back in the early sixties.  So the only significance of this latest shot is that it is a bit more precise and cleaner.

I think shootall is right, don't think the reall danger at present will come from a missle
more like a truck load of fertlizer or fuel tanker.

That's right I for one don't believe there is an army / navy that can beat us on a battle field ! That is why we must contend with coward acts ! And we will !
If nothing else the American people are quick to anger  and if any more terror is unleashed here they will take the gloves off and end the problem !

China "offed" their satellite with a laser. That's some scary chit! We would never win a conventional war with China. For every American, there's probably 50 Chinese. To defeat the United States, all they have to do is call our dept. We would be owned by them without a shot being fired. We need to start manufacturing in this country again and quit taking it overseas to be made. Sorry, I got carried away. LOL!
