38/357 Loads
« on: February 25, 2008, 11:35:17 AM »
Just got a Handi in 357. Shot a few loads of 38's  Ones I loaded for my pistol and they seem light.
How hot can I load these with cast bullets. My load now is 4.3 grs of AA#5.
What is a good load for this gun. I cast several bullets for 38/357
 Thanks Ron

Hunter_54,

I recently added a 38/357 barrel to my Buffalo Carbine and have been doing a lot of reloading for it.  I do not like shooting 38's in a 357 chamber since I hate scrubbing out the gunk that builds up.  I've been using 5gr of Unique under a cast 158gr RNFP with a CCI500 primer in a 357 case for plinking.  My barrel starts leading in the throat area after about 25 founds, so I limit lead to save time cleaning.  My 45 Colt barrel does not seam to lead as I've shot 50+ rounds through it with no problem.  Read my other threads on 158gr and 180gr jacketed loads I've been tinkering with.  If your looking for a rifle revolver combo load I'd suggest 158gr JSP over as much H110 as the manufacture recommends for that bullet.
