Hi All,

Aiming a Mosin Nagant you need to remember that the sites are not in yards or meters.  The sites are in Arshins or Russian Paces.  All of mine shot high, you just have to factor that in.

I believe that you are correct only for 1891's.  91/30's and everything after use meters, including all Finn's from M27's on.

I had a 91/30 hex receiver.  It was in Arshins.  I had Williams Gunsite look at it.  Also Mosin's were sighted in with the bayonet on.  It is said that this also throws off where the bullet hits down range.

I'm surprised that your 91/30 was regulated in Arshins, but you would know that better than me.  Perhaps it was a 91 shortened to 91/30 specifications.  The hex receiver would indicate that possibility.  Did the barrel have a date on it?

I bet the bayonet would change the P.O.I. greatly.  I hear that the 44's have different P.O.I.'s with the bayonet extended vs. stored.  The barrel harmonics would have to be affected also.

It appears this is a common problem. Using all my strength i was able to close the bolt one time on one of the winchester rounds. i will try other ammo. I need softpoint as i hope to use it on deer in the future. any softpoint ammo suggestions that might function beter in this rifle??
Had this problem with a m44 , I polished up the extractor a bit and that made a hairs difference , then what I did was jam a nail down in between the extractor and bolt head , pretty far , let it sit for awhile , that would make the problem a bit easier for awhile , I was tempted to bend the extractor some but figured that would not be a good idea , basiclly I feel your problem is an extractor that is to stiff and up agaisnt the bolt head to much , back it off somehow but a hair ... make that half a hair and you should see a difference
