Nikon Customer Service
« on: February 25, 2008, 02:22:48 PM »
Does anyone have any experience with Nikon's customer service?  I have a Buckmaster that has a problem with the "power" ring adjustment.  Probably my fault, I wondered if anyone has any good or bad experience with them?  The salesman I bought it from felt like Bushnell and Leupold are more responsive.

Dunno if this is representative of all Nikon CS, but it's encouraging.

I have used Nikon Buckmaster scopes on rifles ranging from 243Win. to 338RUM and have never needed their customer service or warranty on any of them.  The only way to wreck one of their scopes is to beat it repeatedly with a shovel....well actually I just made that up, but they are tough optics.

This is an old one but I think I need to bring some issues to light. I sent in a Nikon Monarch 3-9x40 that had issues with the windage and elevation knobs. They would turn fine then stick and need excessive force to move again. Then when they would "break loose" they would turn about 10 clicks. I sent it to Nikon for a repair estimate and they responded promptly to notify me it had arrived on 27 March. Status updates were made on their website and two weeks later it was back in my hands. I decided to run it through the full spectrum of adjustment and it locked-up like a vault. I couldn't move the knobs at all. I sent it back after speaking to a CSR and it has been there since 19 April. For several weeks their website has shown a "replace" status. Almost two weeks ago I called CS again to see when I might receive the replacement. I got an email reply three days later stating the replacement would be shipped NLT the following Monday. That was 11 days ago. Today I called and asked about it again. They had no idea so we decided that I would receive another email reply from the repair dept. email came in a little while ago stating they hope to get more replacements in sometime in early June, but no idea if there will be enough to go around with that batch. When is enough, enough?

Thanks, Dinny
