How are the factory targets shot?
« on: February 25, 2008, 02:49:20 PM »
Hi folks.  I just picked up a 527 American in .223 Rem at the local shop and I see that there's a factory-shot target in the box.  I was wondering:  Was this target shot from my rifle bedded in its stock?  I don't care about the accuracy I see on the target, I'm just curious as to how they shoot them.  Anyone know?

I'm really looking forward to shooting this rifle.  I've heard some great things about CZs and I sure like that set trigger!  Nice piece of wood and great, deep blueing.  It's still snowing here or I'd have taken it out to shoot it already!  Thanks for any replies on the factory target and I look forward to cruising this forum more as I start shooting my new CZ.

Mine looks like it may have actually been shot from my gun in its stock because there's one shot to the left and the other two overlap each other by about 50% (like clean, cold barrel outlier and 2 'normal' super shots).

I'm going to visit extended family this weekend and it'll be the first chance I have to take the rifle out.  I can't hardly wait!

What jeclif said.  The factory group is pathetic.  First day out with some hand loads I grouped five in 0.28 at 100 yards (posted that picture here somewhere).  With even minor attention it's hard to group over a minute with any loads 60-grains and below.

The factory group of three was over an inch at 50 meters.

WHEW !!!!!!

Glad to hear that, Don !!!!  When I opened the box on my new 453 and saw the factory target, my heart dropped.

I bought the CZ because I wanted good accuracy... and I especially bought the 453 "varmint" for it's heavy barrel and, hopefully, even BETTER accuracy, but that darned factory target almost caused me HEART FAILURE it was soooo "bad" !!!

I haven't had a chance to get out and shoot the new 453... YET... but I did buy every brand and kind of ammo the local gun shop had to find out what my new CZ "likes".

Thanx for the informative post, Don... I 'preciate it.   :)

Always wondered if the factory target was also sight in target. One shot off to the side, two touching centered. Many I have seen are that way.

Think it may be just a function test,  not an accuracy target
