« on: February 26, 2008, 10:44:16 PM »
Got a new RIA GI model had feeding problems with my reloads, discovered that the bullets were not seated in far enough. set the bullets to a 1.21 OAL seems to work fine.
hits where you point it.
can't see the sights very well Old age I supose.
Can they be replaced?
Not a bad pistol for under $400.00

Not really familiar with the RIA line. A friend of mine just bought one with the 3.5" barrel. Haven't seen the gun, just pictures. Looks like the tiny sights on his as well. I'll probably have to help him sort it out, so I'll become a little more familiar with the pistol. Based on the pictures, I'd replace the sights first thing, they appear to be too small to be very practical. I'm sure the rear sight is in a dovetail, so replacing that one will be easy enough. Not sure about the front sight, is it dovetailed, staked, or an integral part of the slide? If it's staked or dovetailed, you're home free!

King makes a very nice front and rear fixed sight that fit the original holes in most 1911 clones. They come in 3-dot configuration and also black. Mine are really clear and shoot to POA.

you need to go here http://forum.m1911.org/

and then down to the Armscor forum. You will find out all you want to know about the RIA's there.

Ivan is the Rep for Armscor/RIA. This is his email ivan@armscor.net

I have the Tactical with the Novac sights that are dovetailed front and back.

i got a set of night sights from cdnn real cheap and sent the gun back to Brian the smith in the parhump Nevada facility he installed them there for 40 bucks a few years back and it hits right were they are pointing and they are big enough for older eyes. (gi pistols have sights for 18 yr old eyes) the pistol has never failed to feed or to fire and is very accurate. I used to shoot competition for the navy pistol team and the trigger is as good as a competition rig, just a bit heavier which is a good thing.contact info for armscor 702 362 7750 fax 702 362 5019 e mail armscor@wirelesstelcorp.com
