7.62x25 Tokarev

Anybody shoot this round out of the Contender?  One of the guys over on the CZ forum asked about it out of a carbine and got me curious.  Plenty of cheap ammo out there for it, it can be reloaded with various types of bullets, and can even be reloaded as .223 Timbs by using a .30 Cal sabot and .22 cal bullet.

I would love one.  I have a great idea.  Let's call it the 7.62 Whisper.  Most folks don't know what a 7.62x25 is.  Similar in size to a 9mm but 3/8" longer and necked down to 30 caliber.  Factory S&B ammo is over 1600 fps.

A definate hunting aplication.  Very fast pistol, reliable feed and action, excellent accuracy, superior penetration.  I feel a lot safer in the bear woods with it.  I used to sit out till dark bear hunting, and bears can be scarey, they have a habit of sneaking in quiet behind a hunter.  I used to sit with my rifle pointed one way, and my Contender in 45 Colt at the ready to reach over my shoulder, but ONE SHOT????? I know the saying here is 'ONE GOOD SHOT', but not bear hunting, no way.  I feel a lot more secure knowing I have 8 rounds I can pump out real fast and penetrate a thick skull or shoulder.
Now on the other hand....in a long barrel, these little beauties could be loaded light for chicken coop patrol without waking up the neighbors, and if a 3&1/2 inch barrel can get close to 1700 fps, imagine what a 16 inch carbine would do.

http://www.makarov.com/tokloaddata.html  Here is a link to re-loading data, there is a cartridge drawing included.
BTW  the data listed is for a Makarov, same cartridge, but the CZ-52 will handle much greater pressure.  I have data to 1700 fps with a 90 gr bullet.  There is also some interesting data in the new Cartridges of the World book for the 7.62 Micro-Whisper which is a 30 Luger with rifle bullets, and a 7.63 Mini-Whisper which is 30 Mauzer. (about the same as 7.62x25, you can use 30 mauzer in a CZ, but not the opposite)
These are mistakenly listed as 'proprietary cartridges' belonging to J.D. Jones, but I dont see how J.D. can own the rights to the 30 Luger, and the 30 Mauzer just because he tried a big rifle bullet in them.  It is obviously a mistake in the new printing, I have no doubt whatsoever that ANYONE who wishes could chamber and sell these without any legal concern for J.D.
